Privacy
Your game comes first.
KanjiQuiz.com is run by rePlay LLC, Tokyo, Japan. Here is how we use your information to run the game, answer your messages and understand visits—with your permission.
Launch and beta emails
When you join our list, we save your email address, signup source and email preferences to send the launch, beta or Plus availability updates you requested. Joining the list does not grant game access.
Each update includes an unsubscribe link. We keep your unsubscribe preference so future campaigns exclude you, along with delivery records used to avoid duplicate messages. You can contact us to request access to or deletion of your information.
Playing and signing in
You can play the daily game without an account. We store your game session and progress so the game can remember your answers and result. Cookies and storage in your browser help keep this working.
If you sign in with Google or LINE, we receive an account identifier, your display name and your email address when the provider supplies it. We use these to recognise your account and save your progress across devices. We do not receive your Google or LINE password.
This information is needed for the game and account features you use. Turning off usage tracking does not turn off these features. We also use these service records to check that results are saved correctly and to find puzzles that need review. Optional browser observations, such as whether a board appeared or play began, are collected only after you allow analytics. Missing observations are not treated as proof that someone stopped playing.
Messages and feedback
When you contact us, we save your name, email address, reason and message, together with any phone number, organisation or board number, date and level you choose to provide. Our team uses these details to handle your enquiry and reply. Please do not send passwords or payment-card details.
Optional board reactions and problem reports help us find mistakes and improve puzzles. They are linked to the attempt and exact board version. We keep earlier reactions when you edit a response. Raw reports stay private to our support team; reviewers see a summary checked by an administrator for personal information. Feedback receipts work for 14 days so you can report a problem after play ends. Your browser remembers recent board context for this purpose and clears expired saved context when you next play. A pending submission can remain in this browser tab to let you retry safely. Sending a message does not sign you up for marketing emails.
Your choice about usage tracking
We ask your permission before loading Google Analytics. If you choose Allow analytics, it helps us understand how people find KanjiQuiz, return to play, finish games, share results, sign up and start a paid Plus subscription. If you choose No thanks, optional analytics does not load. You can play either way.
If you allow it, Google LLC receives information such as the pages you visit, where you came from, your browser and device information, identifiers stored in analytics cookies, and actions such as finishing a game or sending optional board feedback. Feedback text and report categories stay out of Google Analytics. For a verified first Plus payment, we may send the paid amount, actual currency and a protected transaction reference used to prevent duplicate counts. We do not send Stripe customer, subscription or invoice identifiers. Unsent payment summaries stop being eligible after 24 hours; this does not delete billing records. We do not send your name, email, sign-in identifiers, messages or puzzle answers to analytics.
We set Google Analytics to retain individual user and event data for 14 months, without extending the user retention period when you return. Google deletes expired data during its monthly deletion process. This limit does not apply to standard aggregated reports or our separate game, feedback and billing records.
We remember your choice for 365 days. When analytics is available, use Analytics settings in the footer to change your choice. Turning it off stops future tracking, clears the analytics cookies we can remove and reloads the page. It does not erase information already received by Google.
Who handles your information
Our website and email service providers process information needed to operate KanjiQuiz and deliver messages. Contact messages are saved for our team to handle your enquiry and may be sent to our team through our email provider, Google. Google or LINE also handles the sign-in process when you choose that provider.
Google explains its handling of information from partner sites in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and its broader practices in the Google Privacy Policy.
Existing customer records and security
When new sales stop, we still keep relevant membership, advertising, invoice and payment records to fulfil existing agreements, provide customer access, answer billing questions and meet applicable obligations. Stripe may continue to process existing payments; switching off new sales or analytics does not erase these records.
We use sign-in sessions and request-limit records to protect accounts and prevent abuse. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of your information; records needed for existing agreements or applicable obligations may still need to be kept.
Your information and questions
To ask about your information, request a correction or request deletion, contact us and choose Support. We may need to confirm that the information belongs to you before making a change.
Game records, messages and account information are stored separately from optional analytics. Changing your analytics choice does not delete those records. We will update this page if the way we use your information changes.
